This rash started on a 55-year-old man's forearms and legs and spread to his trunk (A), palms (B), and soles. He also had fever, headache, myalgia, arthralgia, and a history of a recent interstate travel in the southeastern and south central states. Thr infection occur during the summer, when frequent outdoor activity in an urban area. Additional manifestations are cough, bleeding, edema, confusion, focal neurological signs, and seizures. His symptoms appeared from 2 to 14 days after his trip and the rash usually develops between the third and fifth days of illness.

What is the Diagnosis and Treatment?

Rocky mountain fever............The disease is caused by Rickettsia rickettsii, a species of bacterium that is spread to humans by Dermacentor ticks. Initial signs and symptoms of the disease include sudden onset of fever, headache, and muscle pain, followed by development of rash Petechial rash Abdominal pain Joint pain severe manifestations of this disease may involve the respiratory system, central nervous system, gastrointestinal system, or renal system.
