Teeth cleaning is a routine which practices oral health. It keeps the teeth and gums free from bacteria that cause dental problems such as cavities and gingivitis. Interdental cleaning, on the other hand, uses a specially designed toothbrush for cleaning hard-to-reach areas of the teeth.
Professional Teeth Cleaning:
To further promote oral health, a visit to the dentist every six months for teeth cleaning is recommended. Unlike the tools we use at home, those used by dentists in cleaning the teeth are designed to further remove dirt and hardened plaque which regular brushing and flossing can't do. They also use tools to treat cavities and even take out tooth decays.
Other than removing plaque and tartar, dentist also polishes the teeth. Tooth polishing smooths the tooth's surface. Due to age, gnashing and chewing, the enamel develops cracks where food deposits enter. With each tooth smooth; there are less chances of plaque formation.
Reminders in Cleaning the Teeth:
Cleaning the teeth is important in promoting good oral hygiene. Doing it daily includes tooth brushing and flossing. Tooth brushing should be performed two to three times a day; flossing on the other hand should be done at least once before going to bed. Using toothbrush with soft bristles is advised to avoid damaging the enamel. To further help eliminate plaque formation, it is highly recommended to use toothpaste with fluoride. It is also best to rinse mouth with an anti-bacterial mouthwash.
Having a balanced meal also helps in reducing plaque. People must limit in-between meals since it may trigger acid release which damages the enamel. Eating vegetables and fruits instead of sweets and other treats are also advised to reduce plaque formation.
